The last jaguar | A jaguar as a best friend!

Autumn, a young girl, and Hope, a baby jaguar, grow up together in the Amazon rainforest and are inseparable, until Autumn returns to live in New York. Years later, the young teenager will come to save her jaguar friend whose survival is threatened.

The French director Gilles de Maistre, who gave us Mia and the white lion And The wolf and the lionis back this time with The last jaguar, a film for the whole family. In the latter, Autumn, a young teenager, returns to the Amazon forest to save her jaguar friend from the hands of poachers. Her biology teacher, very fearful, will follow her in her misadventures, deep in the jungle. But will Hope, who has become a wild predator, recognize her friend Autumn?

We understand the message that director Gilles de Maistre wants to convey about the destruction of the Amazon forest and animal trafficking, but the storyline is thin. Damage. The biology professor who is afraid of everything and who never leaves her hedgehog is far too caricatured, even if she will evolve during this epic adventure in the jungle. For her part, Autumn, the headstrong teenager who wants to save the world at the risk of her life, is touching and full of authenticity.

The film was shot in Mexico, the landscape images are superb. We also love the scenes of complicity between Hope the female jaguar and Autumn, so much so that we would all like to have Hope the jaguar as a best friend! These are actually two real female black jaguars who appeared in the film, which is impressive. They have not been trained; two animal coordinators took care of them and the two jaguars who were born in captivity today live in a sanctuary, where they are protected.

The young American actress Lumi Pollack, who plays Autumn as a teenager, is excellent, as is little Airam Camacho, who is Autumn as a child. Emily Bett Rickards, who plays the biology teacher, does well despite everything, and the two jaguars are spectacular. The last jaguar is a cute, but too naive, film that will certainly appeal to children.
