The parietal paintings are always difficult to date. To the Cave of Villars, headed by Catherine Birckel-Versaveaud, a new dating campaign was carried out in 2009-2011… What can be dated quite easily are bones and charcoal. This is what was done here to see the realization of these works 20 to 21,000 years ago. Along the way, the prehistoric artist will also have had the opportunity to admire impressive calcite flows, fine stalactites, gours, translucent draperies and countless stalagmites…
