The UN warns of the nuclear threat in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. On the morning of Thursday March 3, the head of Russian diplomacy also spoke of “nuclear war”. In Ukraine, Russian troops surrounded the country’s largest nuclear power plant. How did the population react to this invasion?
Hundreds of men arrive, Thursday, March 3, at the center of the territorial defense of Zaporizhzia (Ukraine). The faces are tense: these volunteers come, among other things, to defend the very close nuclear power plant. It is the largest in Europe. It is currently besieged, surrounded by Russian forces. A Ukrainian army officer assures that the plant is still under the control of the country, but that the situation is very tense.
On the evening of Thursday, March 3, alarms sounded in the city that houses the plant. Since Wednesday March 2, hundreds of Ukrainian volunteers have been trying to defend it. It houses six of Ukraine’s fifteen reactors. It is therefore a highly strategic place, fundamental for the country’s economy. At the defense center, the men and women who voluntarily left their families remain determined to fight the Russians.
