In Landéan (Ille-et-Vilaine), the pharmacist will soon retire. But he couldn’t find a buyer. A situation that worries the inhabitants of the commune.

In Landéan (Ille-et-Vilaine), it is the story of a pharmacy that worries an entire village. Its manager Thao Bounseum will retire at the end of August 2023. For him, it’s time to enjoy life. Problem: there is no buyer for the pharmacy. “I put the pharmacy up for sale in 2018. It’s already been five years. No one is interested. It hurts my heart“, regrets the pharmacist. He resigned himself to giving away his business. Even free, the buyers do not jostle at the gate. There was only one visit, a couple who judged the figure of business, 850,000 euros, too low.

The mayor, Franck Esnault, then offered to buy the walls to offer a modest rent. “It’s part of the community service. If it were to close it could impact all the other traders. […] It still drains people in the town center“, explains the city councilor. In the village, the possible closure of the pharmacy is on everyone’s lips. While the only doctor in the town at 73, Landéan could lose a lot. There are five months left before the pharmacy drop the curtain. In Ille-et-Vilaine alone, in less than a year, three village pharmacies have closed.
