For many, the Christmas tree is already made, but there are still a few days before the holidays to best decorate their home, and thus surprise their guests on Christmas Eve. This is why the LaFabrick association in Poitiers offers DIY workshops around Christmas. The principle is simple: make your own Christmas decoration, all with materials you find at home such as a garland, cardboard, paper or even clothespins.
“Our goal is that with recycled materials, we can make pretty creations”, explains Marine Lavaud, co-founder of the fablab La Fabrick in Poitiers. “We have children, but also retirees who came to participate in the workshops, and ultimately, this kind of workshop allows us to share good times with others while having a creative spirit,” she explains.

“A moment of sharing with the family”
Gwenaëlle came with her daughter to participate in this DIY workshop. For just under two hours, they made a hanging garland and a table mat with clothespins. Creations that they will proudly display during the holiday season. “I think we can be proud of our work, and that’s for sure, as soon as we get home, we’ll hang the garland,” says Gwenaëlle.
Ivan is participating for the third time in a week in the workshops of the Fabrick de Poitiers. “Here, I learned to sew, to think of my creations differently, and then it occupies these somewhat gloomy winter days”, explains this forty-something. “It’s 100 times better than a” tutorial “on the Internet, not very well explained. At least here, we are guided. It necessarily makes you want to come back”. And he will have the opportunity to redo other workshops, because La Fabrick is planning other meetings in 2022, on the occasion of Candlemas or Easter.
