The Kremlin declared on Thursday December 7 “hope” that American elected officials were going to speak out against the new aid planned for Ukraine, still engaged in its fight against the Russian invasion. During a press conference, the spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitri Peskov, estimated that the Congress “burns” money from the United States to Ukraine, a few hours after a failure of parliamentarians to move forward on new aid for kyiv.
The American Congress failed on Wednesday to make progress on the release of a large envelope of more than 106 billion dollars, insisted on by President Biden, including funds for both Ukraine and Israel. The Republican opposition strongly refused to support this text, demanding significant concessions on US migration policy in exchange for its votes.
