“Unfounded accusations.” The Kremlin denounced, Friday April 5, the accusations made by Emmanuel Macron, who affirmed that Russia was targeting the organization of the Olympic Games by disseminating information suggesting that Paris would not be ready. These accusations are “totally unfounded”Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told the press. “Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable”he believes.

Emmanuel Macron accused Russia on Thursday of“feeding every day the fact that we could not do this or that, so it would be a risk”, concerning the organization in France of the Olympic Games planned for this summer. On Wednesday, the Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu took the initiative of a telephone exchange with his Russian counterpart Sergei Choïgu. This call caused new tensions.

After this call, Emmanuel Macron denounced “baroque and threatening comments” of Russia who said “hope” that the French secret services were not involved in the attack which targeted a concert hall near the Russian capital at the end of March. A massacre which left 144 dead and was claimed by the jihadist group Islamic State.
