Orpéa’s main competitor, Korian, is also in turmoil. About thirty complaints were filed, Wednesday, June 8, in several regions against the French leader of Ehpad, accused of “non-assistance to person in danger” or “manslaughter”.

After the Orpea scandal, it is now the Korian group, the number one French retirement home, which is in turn targeted. 30 family complaints were filed on Wednesday, June 8. Testimonies speak of ill-treatment and sometimes unworthy living conditions. Failure to assist a person in danger, endangering the life of others and even manslaughter: these complaints were filed by families, whose loved ones stayed in the group’s establishments.

Emmanuel Bourdin is one of the plaintiffs. Her father spent six months in a Korian retirement home. “We noticed that his hygiene was not done. I investigated for a month”, he explains. On Wednesday morning, the management of the Korian group reacted in a press release: “As it stands, Korian is unaware of the content of the complaints and therefore cannot comment.”
