Jean-Marie Fortier is a star of organic gardening and market gardening and he is Quebecer. His fame is worldwide, he is notably the godfather of the Chambord vegetable garden.
The vegetable garden of the Château de Chambord is one of its best protected treasures. Four centuries old, it is starting to regain color with two hectares of organic vegetables grown without pesticides or tractors, as in the past. A project that saw the light of day two years ago thanks to the participation of Jean-Marie Fortier, star of organic gardening and market gardening. He is the honorary godfather of this vegetable garden.
“It’s amazing to be an honorary sponsor of a place like this”, assures Jean-Marie Fortier. Its story begins in Quebec on a small family farm. With his wife, he created an extremely profitable organic micro-farm model. One hectare of vegetables can bring in up to 140,000 euros each year. They thus supply 260 families from the surrounding villages. Agriculture on a human scale and close to the population.
