They have been walking theaters all over France for a long time now, hand in hand. And yet, we tend to forget it, The knights of the gall were, originally, three to play their swords. In the 1980s, Eric Carrière and Francis Ginibre – who we find this evening in Municipalities, enough is enough on C8 – effectively chained the jokes, on the boards, with a third comrade at their side. It was Gilles Petit, who finally left the formation in 1990… and who did rather well, if we are to believe all the beautiful things he managed to accomplish, alone, on his side. .
Far from the lights that illuminate the stage, Gilles has made his merry way without his two great friends. He stopped performing in front of an audience, but became very powerful in the shadows. From 1990 to 1993, he held the position of administrator at the Palais des Glaces in Paris. He then became the CEO of Just for Laughs France, from 1995 to 2011, during which time he produced artists such as Florence Foresti or Franck Dubosc. On the strength of this experience, Gilles Petit launched Little Bros in 2011, his own live performance production and artist management company. Arnaud Ducret, Jérôme Commandeur, Jeanfi Janssens are part of his artist portfolio. He is also, since 1994, the exclusive agent of Laurent Ruquier.
He has multiple strings to his bow. Today, Gilles Petit is also the vice-president of the Producers Committee of PRODISS, the first national union for musical entertainment, and he is president of the National Center for Varieties and Jazz. The Chevaliers du fiel were born in the 1980s. At the time, Eric Carrière was a sociology student and Francis Ginibre had just graduated from the Beaux-Arts. While they were performing together in the Cave du Père Bacchus, on the Place Saint-Georges in Toulouse, they had met, in 1984, Gilles Petit. Their common adventures only lasted a while, but it was together, however, that they wrote the sketches and composed the music for their very first show, Craziest plane hijacking of the year.
