A court decision invalidated, Friday June 14, the exclusion of Éric Ciotti from the Les Républicains party.
Éric Ciotti, smiling, confirmed president of the Republicans, does not fail to reattack his opponents after seeing his exclusion suspended. “It’s an obvious decision, what was done was grotesque”, he said. Excluded from his post as president of the Republicans after two votes from the political bureau, the outgoing Nice deputy had contested the legality of the procedure. The judicial court went in its favor on Friday June 14: the sanction is suspended and Éric Ciotti remains, for the moment, president.
For the leaders of the Republicans and the opponents, this decision changes nothing and only slows down the process. The court has yet to rule on the merits of the case. The suspension of Eric Ciotti’s exclusion expires in eight days. A race against time begins for the Republicans. The deadline for nominating candidates for the next legislative elections ends Sunday at 6 p.m.
