the journalist indicted for the rape of journalist Florence Porcel

According to information from BFMTV, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor was indicted this Monday, December 18 for rape. An indictment which follows the complaint of journalist Florence Porcel filed in 2021. While the case was visibly at a standstill, this twist appears as a small victory for the complainant who despaired of seeing her alleged attacker face Justice.

We learn that Patrick Poivre d’Arvor allegedly imposed “forced fellatio” on the journalist who also denounced another rape in the premises of TF1 in 2004. Since the start of the affair, the former presenter of the TF1 news has denied strongly condemn these sordid accusations. “Mr. Poivre d’Arvor firmly contests the facts alleged by Mrs. Porcel as he has done since the first day and has produced numerous material elements contradicting them.”

BFMTV also reminds that “uThe first investigation for the same facts was closed without further action in 2021. The Nanterre prosecutor Catherine Denis then specified, in reference to the accusation of fellatio denounced by Florence Porcel, that ‘these facts […] cannot characterize the crime of rape to the extent that there is no evidence to confirm the statements of one or the other concerning the existence of this scene..”

We note that Patrick Poivre d’Arvor has been accused by several other women for more than two years and that it is precisely the testimony of journalist Florence Porcel which launched the movement of complaints. In total, more than twenty women came out of silence to provide their testimonies and accuse the journalist of rape or sexual assault. If sixteen of them found the courage to file a complaint, eight of them denounced acts of rape. For the moment, Patrick Poivre d’Arvor remains presumed innocent of the alleged facts.
