Director Todd Phillips shared on Instagram the script cover of the upcoming Joker with the title “Joker: Folie à Deux”. The names of Todd Phillips and Scott Silver appear on the cover as screenwriters.

In the same publication, a photo of Joaquin Phoenix reading the script confirms that the actor will return as the villainous character. Phoenix had also won the Oscar for best actor for the first film.
Released in 2019, The Joker grossed over $1 billion at the box office. The film tells the story of Arthur Fleck, a young adult with mental illness who becomes radicalized after suffering a series of rejections. The exclusion leads him to transform into a violent killer, the joker. Fleck turns the streets of Gotham upside down and challenges the Batman universe.
The theme “madness for two” relates to a psychotic disorder where two individuals share a common delirium.
