Is it a break to start better? The joint committee, which brings together deputies and senators to find a compromise on the immigration bill, was suspended during the night of Monday December 18 to Tuesday December 19 and will resume Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., France Télévisions learned from parliamentary sources.

The members of this CMP examined around fifteen articles, but the discussions between the right and the government skidded on the controversial question of social benefits paid to foreigners, leading to this suspension which reinforces the uncertainty over the future of this text which fractures Parliament.

The conclave began meeting on Monday, around 5 p.m., before a session interruption of almost four hours.

A delegation of majority deputies responsible for the immigration bill made a quick visit to Matignon, early in the evening, before returning to their seats. “It’s slipping”recognized the leader of MoDem deputies Jean-Paul Mattei as he left this meeting with Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne. “I admit that I am a little worried”confided the group president.
