The Jays will know tonight who their opponent will be in the first round of the playoffs

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays will conclude their season on Sunday at the Rogers Center in a playoff duel.

The Blue Jays lost 7-5 to the Rays on Saturday night, but they still confirmed their place in the playoffs a few hours later, when the Texas Rangers beat the Seattle Mariners.

The Toronto team is expected to celebrate their participation in the playoffs after their clash against the Rays.

It is still unclear who the Blue Jays will face in the best-of-three series in the first round. The Torontonians will play abroad as the fifth or sixth seed of the American.

If the Blue Jays are fifth, they will face the Rays. If they are sixth, they will have an appointment with the Minnesota Twins, the champions of the Central section of the American.

The title of the West section of the American is still up for grabs. This result will also have an impact on the ranking.

The Rangers begin Sunday with a one-game lead over the Astros in the West. The Rangers will once again visit the Mariners while the Astros will face the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

The Blue Jays and Astros are tied for the last two spots among drafted teams.

There are eight potential scenarios based on the results of these three parts. Five of them send the Blue Jays to Tampa while the other three send them to Minnesota.

The Blue Jays were swept in the first round of the playoffs in 2020 and 2022. Toronto’s last playoff victory dates back to 2016.
