Surprise visit to Ukraine. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida traveled to kyiv and Boutcha on Tuesday 21 March. “This historic visit is a sign of solidarity and strong cooperation between Ukraine and Japan,” Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Djeppar said on Facebook. Fumio Kishida was the only G7 member leader not to have been to Kyiv since the start of the conflict in February 2022. Follow our live.
Discussions continue between Russia and China. Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping are due to meet for official talks on Tuesday, the second day of the Chinese president’s visit to Russia. “I know that you (…) have a fair and balanced position on the most pressing international issues”the Russian president said on Monday.
The United States criticizes the Beijing peace plan. “The world should not be fooled by any tactical decision by Russia, backed by China or any other country, to freeze the conflict on its own terms,” launched the US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken. For its part, kyiv on Monday urged Xi Jinping to “use its influence on Moscow to put an end to the war of aggression”.
New means for the International Criminal Court. The International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday obtained more financial and technical means from some forty countries gathered in London to continue its investigations in Ukraine, three days after issuing an arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin.
