the Italian theater of Guéret selected

Cock-a-doodle Doo ! The site of the Italian theater of Guéret is one of the 18 sites selected this year for the 2022 edition of the heritage lotto. The Ministry of Culture announced it on Monday. This is the fifth edition of the Mission for the safeguarding of endangered heritage, led by Stéphane Bern. The Italian theater is the only building in the Creuse to have been chosen. The endowments that the theater will receive will be announced during the next European Heritage Days next September.

As a reminder, renovating the Guéret theater is theone of the mayor’s campaign promises, Marie-Francoise Fournier. She estimates the renovation budget at 3 million euros.

Churches, cinemas, villages

In addition to the Creuse, there are the former penal colony of Belle-Île-en-Mer (Morbihan), the castle of Quenza (Corse-du-Sud), the mining headframes of Oignies (Pas-de-Calais), the Saint-Louis church of Villemomble (Seine-Saint -Denis), the old church and veterinary infirmary of Haras du Pin (Orne), the Atlas cinema at Anses d’Arlet (Martinique) or the village of Acarouany and its former leper colony in Mana (Guyana).

Since the first edition in 2018, the Heritage Mission saved 645 sites. Among them, 90 emblematic regional heritage projects and 555 departmental sites. The 2021 edition of the Loto collected 28 million euros, breaking a new record.
