Thursday June 13, a few days before the first round of the early legislative elections, the question of the retirement age continues to arise in the middle of the electoral campaign.
In Montoir-de-Bretagne (Loire-Atlantique), the residents’ vote switched from the left to the National Rally (RN), Sunday June 9, during the European elections. In the town, elderly people represent a quarter of the population and the question of pensions is at the heart of the campaign. Reine Jetin, 88-year-old retiree, former cleaning lady, saw her pension increase from 769 to 809 euros in February 2024, because it was indexed to inflation. For her, even if retirement pensions remain indexed to inflation, this will remain a “small increase”.
A teacher, who will vote left, is against retirement at 64, defended by the presidential majority. An employee, who has worked since he was 16, voted for Jordan Bardella, seduced by the one who wanted to restore retirement at 60 for long careers. In its program, published Thursday June 13, the RN no longer mentions the repeal of the pension reform.
