To fight against urban rodeos, the Grenoble police have set up a mailbox since Thursday. An experience that she will carry out until December. A device in addition to 17, the number that must always be dialed in the event of a problem.
There is a lot of talk at the moment in the media about urban rodeos, since the serious accidents and deaths that this has caused, particularly in the Paris region. The Minister of the Interior has asked for controls to be reinforced.
[email protected]
“We wanted to create this mailbox because calls to 17 were down this summer.” explains the departmental director of public security, Fabienne Lewandowski. “Maybe because of the holidays or because some people didn’t want to be identified. The mailbox [email protected] that we have just created allows people to report rodeos to us downstairs. They can send us photos, information, license plates. It was created on Thursday, and we have already received several emails that our staff deals with regularly. This allows us to optimize our anti-rodeo operations.”
Dial 17
In Isère the phenomenon of rodeos exists but is not increasing. Often rodeos rhyme with traffic violation and deal. “At the traffic points, there are often scooters and therefore there can be rodeos. For any report, there is now the mailbox, which we are experimenting with until December. And above all, there is the 17, which can be called H24. So we prioritize our interventions. When we are caught on domestic violence or a burglary, we cannot intervene on all the rodeos that are reported to us. But we take note and then we draw up a map and we can put in place effective controls.” emphasizes Fabienne Lewandowski.
Refusals to comply on the rise
This initiative of the Isère police to create an email box to send information from the field could be duplicated in other departments, which the boss of the police in Isère hopes, who specifies: “What is complicated at the moment for the police is the multiplication of refusals to comply.
