Almost a year after the Hamas attacks in Israel, on October 7, 2023, the victims are traumatized. Several survivors testify to their difficulties.

On October 7, 2023, the life of Sabine Taasa, Franco-Israeli, survivor of the Netiv HaAsara kibbutz, was turned upside down. One of her sons and her husband were killed by Hamas terrorists. She had managed to lock herself in the armored room of her house with one of her children. The two other children, also survivors, are, according to her, “very traumatized”.

Before October 7, Hadas Kalderon lived on Kibbutz Nir Oz with three of his children. A survivor, she survived after hiding in an armored room. His children, hiding in bushes, were spotted by terrorists and became hostages in Gaza, like their father, Ofer Kalderon. They were released in November, after 52 days of detention, but their father is still captive in the Palestinian enclave.

Shavel Biton, 25, survivor of the Nova festival, suffers from post-traumatic stress. He feels like he doesn’t deserve to still be alive. “Why am I still here? […] How do I thank God?”he asks.
