A ten-year-old court case resurfaces. A man was taken into custody on Wednesday January 12 as part of the investigation into the Chevaline massacre. On September 5, 2012, three members of the same family and a cyclist were killed on a country road.

Nine years after the killing of Chevaline (Haute-Savoie), the biker seen near the scene of the quadruple murder was taken into custody in Chambéry on the morning of Wednesday January 12. According to his lawyer, master Jean-Christophe Basson-Labri, he still claims his innocence. “He has the feeling of swimming in the middle of Kafka, and the feeling of having already delivered absolutely everything he knew. Tonight, I am very scared, because I feel the specter of a miscarriage of justice “, he confided.

On September 5, 2012, on a road in Haute-Savoie, a 50-year-old Briton, his wife and his mother-in-law were shot several times in the head. A local cyclist was also shot dead. Forest guards then claimed to have seen a biker near the crime scene. The portrait of the suspect, identified thanks to a composite portrait, however questioned the investigators: a Lyon business manager, with no criminal record or apparent motive.

Nine years later, the team of investigators has changed. A new reconstruction was carried out in September 2021 at the scene of the killing, in the presence of numerous witnesses. The public prosecutor of Annecy, Line Bonnet, indicates that this new interrogation should make it possible to “carry out scheduling checks“.
