The investigation into the disappearance of Marilyn Bergeron would lead to Ontario

The hope of finding Marilyn Bergeron moves to Ontario. On Friday morning, the young woman’s parents, who hadn’t heard from her since February 2008, cried from the heart from Hawkesbury, where some forty people, at the turn of 2010, would have testified to having seen the young missing woman.

One of them is called Guy Salicco. The man said he was certain that when he opened his door one evening in December 2009, Marilyn Bergeron was standing in front of him. “She was in high heels, dressed very lightly for the season and she was crying,” Mr. Salicco said during a press conference on Friday morning.

The young woman, according to her account, would have asked for a telephone to contact someone on rue Chamberlain. “She never gave us her name and she refused to let us drive her. She left on foot, ”said Guy Salicco, who had already told the police about this meeting in 2010.

The witness spoke at a press conference organized by lawyer Marc Bellemare and the parents of Marilyn Bergeron. The former Liberal Minister of Justice has accompanied Andrée Béchard and Michel Bergeron since the disappearance of their child.

Unexplained disappearance

On February 17, 2008, Marilyn Bergeron left the family home in Quebec to get some fresh air, without ever making the way back. Cameras captured her one last time at an ATM, then nothing: her trace has since remained untraceable.

For the mother of the missing young woman, the description that Mr. Salicco makes corresponds in every way to his daughter. “Her reactions, her emotional state, her way of switching from French to English without difficulty, her great politeness, these are characteristics specific to Marilyn. I recognize my daughter in all the description. »

More than forty reports surfaced, in the years 2009 and 2010, in Hawkesbury concerning the disappearance of the young woman. Twenty of them were deemed credible, but “without there being any follow-up”, reports Me Bellemare.

“It has to move forward, we can’t always wait for the police,” says the Quebec lawyer. The only way to move things forward for the family is to bring their daughter’s disappearance back into the public eye. »

The case resurfaced in the media earlier this year. The Quebec City Police Department had deployed a command post at the end of February near a café located at the head of the bridge, in Lévis, the very place where the young woman was last seen. time.

Investigators had searched a residence in Saint-Romuald. Research had not found any clues as to the fate of the girl.

This time, the parents of Marilyn Bergeron hope that their speech will bring out new testimonies. “It’s a family, private and parallel process to the police investigation,” said Ms.e Bellemare.
