All the prison administration union organizations are calling for a “blocking” Wednesday May 15 of penitentiary establishments and structures “in support” to the two agents killed Tuesday in the violent attack on a van, which allowed the escape of a detainee in Normandy. “This day must be a ‘Dead Prisons’ day and may be renewable”announces the inter-union in a press release.

Representatives of the profession will be received on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Place Vendôme by the Minister of Justice Eric Dupond-Moretti, the chancellery said. The inter-union should on this occasion raise a series of demands. Among those, “the drastic reduction of extractions by promoting the use of videoconferencing by magistrates or their travel to establishments”“an overhaul and harmonization of escort levels” or even “the accelerated deployment of cell phone jammers and drone control”.

“We can no longer accept penal overpopulation as well as the breakdown of jobs which leave our workforce month after month both on the corridor and in our crews”, specifies the press release. The inter-union also calls for a minute of silence to be observed at 11 a.m. throughout the prison administration.
