The prisoner who escaped during an outing to the Upie zoo in the Drôme last Tuesday was arrested on Monday May 9 at dawn in Lyon, reports France Bleu Drôme Ardèche. He was taken into custody for an organized gang escape.

His run lasted six days. Last Tuesday, during a group outing, he pretended to want to go to the bathroom to escape. Monday around 5:30 a.m., he was “near his partner’s home” in Lyon when he was arrested, the Valence prosecutor’s office said in a statement. Investigators are looking for possible accomplices.

The man has been incarcerated since November 2005 and was due to be released in 2025. He arrived at the Central House in Valencia in May 2021. He was convicted of rape at gunpoint but also for extortion with a weapon , for offenses related to narcotics and the highway code and for damage to property and persons.
