On Kibbutz Nir Oz, 49 people were killed by Hamas terrorists during the October 7 attack. Some residents have decided to return and are trying to bring their village back to life.
Some residents of Kibbutz Nir Oz chose to return to settle there, after Hamas attacks there left 49 dead. On October 7, the terrorists went from house to house and murdered 49 of the 417 residents. Nathan Baat, 86, was alone, hiding in his armored room that day, but the militia did not enter his home. Two months ago, he decided to move back into his house.
Only five inhabitants left in the kibbutz
“If they had come into my house, it would have been different”, he assures. The resident of Nir Oz explains that he returned home because “no one can forbid him”. The kibbutz has only five inhabitants today. 90% of houses were destroyed or damaged.
