Forwards Nick Suzuki, Paul Byron, Artturi Lehkonen — whose names are circulating in trade rumors — and Brendan Gallagher were all conspicuously absent from practice following a 4-3 overtime loss against the Dallas Stars. Instead, they submitted to treatment.

Jonathan Drouin, who hasn’t played since Jan. 20 against the Vegas Golden Knights, skated with his teammates. According to the organization, his state of health is progressing, but he is not ready to return to the game.

Meanwhile, star goaltender Carey Price skated before practice, and he took another step in his rehabilitation by training with goaltending instructor Éric Raymond.

Defender David Savard and goaltender Andrew Hammond also skated ahead of their Habs teammates.

There has been no update on the condition of forward Josh Anderson, nor on Mathieu Perreault. The latter was not claimed on waivers Thursday, and it is still unclear whether he will report to the school club, the Laval Rocket.

The Canadiens (16-36-9) will host the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night. He will then try to put an end to a series of two defeats.
