It’s a duel between giants. The two most successful countries in the history of the African Cup of Nations meet in the semi-finals of the 2022 edition, Thursday February 3 in Yaoundé (8 p.m.). The duel smacks of revenge after the 2017 final. Cameroon snatched victory in the 88th minute against Egypt thanks to Vincent Aboubakar (2-1), lifting the trophy for the fifth time in its history.

In front of their audience, the Indomitable Lions are aiming for a sixth crown thanks to their prolific attack. Karl Toko Ekambi (five goals) and Vincent Aboubakar (six) are currently leading the scoring charts.

Opposite, Egypt would see themselves spoiling the Cameroonian party, twelve years after their last coronation in Angola. The most successful team on the continent (seven times) relies on its star striker, Mohamed Salah, still omnipresent in the quarter-finals against Morocco (2-1, after extra time).

However, the Pharaohs face a major problem in goal: their two goalkeepers are injured. Another fact that could work against them: they played two extra times (60 minutes) more than Cameroon.
