The average number of positive Covid-19 cases continues to increase while hospitalizations do not decrease, according to figures published Thursday March 24 by French public health. The number of new cases recorded on Thursday is 148,635, compared to 145,560 on Wednesday and 101,747 seven days earlier, according to Public Health France. The seven-day average, which smooths out the daily jolts, stands at 110,874, compared to 104,176 cases on Wednesday.
At the same time, the number of Covid patients in critical care continues to decrease, very slightly, with 1,523 people in intensive care units, compared to 1,564 the day before and 1,695 last Thursday. Hospitals are welcoming a total of 20,654 Covid patients (including 1,338 new patients), compared to 20,653 on Wednesday and 20,609 patients on March 17.
In the past 24 hours, 112 deaths have been recorded. A total of 141,443 people have died since the start of the pandemic more than two years ago in hospitals, nursing homes or other medico-social establishments due to infection with the virus. On the vaccination side, 54.24 million people in total have received at least one injection (80.5% of the total population), according to the General Directorate of Health, and 53.32 million have a complete vaccination schedule (79.1 %).
