Imam Mahjoub Mahjoubi’s appeal for interim relief against his expulsion to Tunisia will be examined on Friday at 1 p.m. by the Paris administrative court, his lawyer said on Wednesday February 28, confirming information from BFMTV. The imam was deported to Tunisia on Thursday February 22, at the request of the Minister of the Interior.

“I will fight to return to France where I have lived for 40 years”, indicated Mahjoub Mahjoubi upon his arrival in his country of origin. The imam denounced a decision “arbitrary” and declared that he was going to take legal action in France. Several of his sermons, where he notably described the tricolor flag as “satanic”, created a controversy which led to his expulsion, welcomed “flash expulsion” by the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin.
