Halloween is just around the corner, and it is certain that, like Harry Potter or the Frozen once marked the collective consciousness, the new series Squid Game will unfortunately be the star of the streets on October 31st.
What a surprise to find that all Halloween stores are out of stock of Halloween costumes. Squid Game representing either killers or victims ignited by money! What astonishing originality to notice that, on this macabre feast day, millions of children will wander around the world, like twins, believing that their costume is the most “original”! Nowadays, fashion is about standing out… You have to believe that the new trend movement is to follow the herd. Because this desire to be special, if that’s what everyone wants, is at this point irrelevant.
And can we talk about what this disguise represents for the wearer? By wearing a follows red, then a black hood showing a triangle, a square or a circle, the individual is interpreted as a character armed to the teeth, ready to shoot at any time on poor miserable people. What about these poor people? Some will embody them by dressing in a simple white sweater and a numbered green jacket. Only, we must not forget that these are madly in debt people who are also ready, for the majority, to slit the throat of the first comer to receive a larger sum of money. Finally, we act as when we were young and innocent: we play at war, but today, we are fully aware of it. This shows that we would be proud to violently hurt others to improve our lot. And if this is really the case, we are extremely low.
Blinded by the value our world has given to lousy pieces of waxed paper, each of us has developed totalitarian egoism and left solidarity for dead.
When your child puts on their Halloween outfit, it will be important to remind you that their character does not belong to the wizarding world of Harry Potter or the unreal universe of Frozen, but is from a sad representation of our reality tinged with the idealization of a world of power, thirsty for cruelty and hungry for violence.
