The ideal Sunday of… Julie Bélanger

Every two weeks, a personality presents us with his ideas for ending the weekend in style

Julie Bélanger’s Sunday is active and busy, because it really marks the beginning of her week. So she gets everything going again on Sunday: work, cooking, with the preparation of a nice little stew, a bit of the piano and a long walk by the river with her dog, a matter of going out for some fresh air and to do good.

The beginning of the week

Sunday is where it all starts. “I dive into my files in the morning! We’re shooting the show Ends the week well Monday evening then on Sunday, I revise, I am in my final preparations and corrections before shooting. I also prepare for the coming week, so I do my shopping, washing, cleaning and cooking! Sunday, for me, is really synonymous with tasks. I like to cook something comforting, a casserole, a baked chicken. It may be associated with my old Sunday anxiety, but cooking calms me down. I am one of those who felt anxiety on Sundays… As a child, when I was at school, but even afterwards in my adult life. I felt it for a long time, because I had to get up early to go to work on Mondays and perform well on the radio in the morning. The anxiety has subsided, I now have more time for myself, but I like to create a comforting little cocoon on Sunday evenings. »

Go outside !

For a very long time, Julie Bélanger hated winter because she never put her nose outside… or almost! “I come from the North Shore, winter should be in my genes, but no, I didn’t like being cold and I was just looking forward to spring! Since I have a dog and I force myself to go outside, I enjoy it! I especially like going for a walk in the Île-Lebel park in Repentigny on the banks of the river, which is very pleasant. I go out for a walk in the snow. It does me good, the winter sun, the light, it’s beautiful, and it ends at home with a fire outside. »

A bit of piano

A few weeks ago, Julie Bélanger started piano lessons. “I come from a family of musicians and, all my life, I told myself that I didn’t have the patience to start learning an instrument… But there, I have time and I therefore reconnected with my artistic fiber. I do my piano scales like a child! I’m really at the very beginning of my learning, but I love it! So on Sundays, I do my scales, I strum the best I can and it makes me trip. I am delighted, I am 48 years old and I play like a child! I realize now that I put work first for many years. I am delighted to reconnect with my musical and artistic side, it does me so much good. »

Readings and riverside

“I live in Lanaudière, by the river. Coming from the North Shore, I need to see the river, to have a horizon, it’s part of my balance and I found it in Lanaudière, where I feel good. I am very homely, on Sundays I am at home, and there is no better place than my home to start my week. On Sunday evening, with my husband, our little luxury is to open a small bottle of wine, we will watch The voice, Everybody talks about it, and it will end with reading. I always have two or three books on my bedside table, right now it’s The daughter of herself by Gabrielle Boulianne-Tremblay and See you in another life of Catriona Silvey. »

Some good addresses

“Friday and Saturday are the two days I go to enjoy it, rest and see my friends. Among the good addresses to recommend, there is the Fromagerie Hamel in Repentigny, there are good fine products and cheeses. My favorite restaurant is the Liège wine bar, located in the heart of Repentigny. The cuisine is refined, it’s a real culinary journey and you can spend a nice warm evening there thanks to a trio of young enthusiasts who are the owners. I also like the L’Espace Comptoir bistro, a very friendly, friendly place where you are always welcomed. »
