“Sundays are made for strolling, so I stroll without feeling guilty! “says actress Anne-Marie Cadieux, who believes that this day is a time when we take time for ourselves. She then takes the opportunity to see her friends, go for walks, discover new neighborhoods and small addresses that are dear to her. “I love Sundays, I know there are a lot of people who are anxious and hate this day, but for me it’s a downtime where I have no obligations. I’m not a routine girl, so they are very different from week to week. Here’s what makes Sunday such a special day for Anne-Marie Cadieux.

Encourage local trade

Anne-Marie Cadieux has been frequenting the Jean-Talon market for 40 years, and remains loyal to the various merchants. “I like local shops. I support them, it’s so important. For example, on Sundays I go to admire or buy flowers at Binette et filles at the Jean-Talon market. [un fleuriste qui existe depuis 1954], Myriam, the florist, is adorable. I also buy my fruits and vegetables from local producers who are at the market and it is a real pleasure to discuss with them. I like the atmosphere of the market, I like neighborhood life, it’s as if I lived in a village. For bread, I like to go to Joe la Croute, the olive bread is a real delight, and the Automne bakery, for savory pies, on avenue Christophe-Colomb. »

The importance of community

She sometimes goes to work out on Sundays and enjoys cardio and strength training classes. “I take group classes at my gym, I’m not Iron Man, we get along, but it makes me feel good. Over the years, a community has been created within the courses, there are bonds of friendship, we go for a coffee, we go to the theatre. In town, it is often said that ties are lost, that people are individualistic, but there is a way to create ties with neighbors or merchants. I need that human contact, because I find it makes life so much more enjoyable. It brightens up your day! »

Little sweets

The actress particularly appreciates the Café chez Téta. “You can have excellent coffee and eat zaatar manouchés [pizzas libanaises], cooked on site in a traditional oven that comes from Lebanon. And if she has a cake to bring to friends, she’ll go to Cocoa Locale, at 4807, avenue du Parc. “A small business run by a woman, Reema Singh, who makes delicious homemade cakes, alone in her magnificent shop. »

The benefits of walking

“I started walking during the pandemic, so since then I have continued to do so. I can go on Mount Royal with my sister or I explore the parks, the Botanical Garden, the Île-de-la-Visitation park, I also like the alleys, and the different neighborhoods of Montreal, so Of course, I make discoveries! There is the Sain Bol, which is a nice address on rue Fabre. It is tiny. There are a few tables, the owner does everything himself, it’s like going to eat at a friend’s house, it’s comforting. It’s a real crush. »

A little culture

Anne-Marie Cadieux frequents museums and art galleries. She likes to go to the theater on Sunday afternoons, because she is more relaxed. “I like to take my 3-year-old godson to the Museum of Fine Arts, or I go to the bookstore La maison des Feuilles, rue Bélanger. There are children’s stories [de 3 à 9 ans] usually Saturday at 10:30 a.m., but sometimes also on Sunday. »
