The Fillon couple will be fixed on their fate, in the afternoon of Monday, May 9. He had appealed his first conviction, for embezzlement of public funds. Journalist Nathalie Perez is in duplex from the Paris Court of Appeal.
The penalties required on appeal, Monday, May 9, against the Fillon couple, are lower than the convictions of the first instance. “François Fillon was sentenced to five years in prison, two of which were suspended at first instance, on appeal the Advocates General had requested five years, including one year in prison and adjustment of the sentence with an electronic bracelet”, indicates journalist Nathalie Perez, live from the Paris court.
The former Prime Minister could thus continue his career in finance. “In 2017, after his failure in the presidential election, François Fillon had definitively turned his back on politics”, recalls the journalist. “He has made it known that he will not be there at his judgment, just like his wife, the very discreet Penelope Fillon, who, she, hopes for a suspended sentence, as in the first instance”, concludes Nathalie Perez.
