After the hostage-taking in Paris in a business in the 12th arrondissement, the suspect was taken into custody on Tuesday, December 21 for “aggravated forcible confinement, willful violence with a weapon and carrying a category D weapon”, announces the prosecution of Paris. He was then interned at the I3P, the psychiatric infirmary of the Paris police headquarters.
The hostage taker was arrested in the morning. There were no injuries, specifies the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin. “Everything went smoothly and the victim is fine”, confirms to franceinfo a source close to the matter. “He finally heard reason“, explained the prefect of police of Paris, Didier Lallement who was on the spot.
“The second victim is safe and sound”, for his part said on Twitter the first deputy mayor of Paris Emmanuel Grégoire, who is part of a “immense relief”.

The man had taken two women hostage yesterday Monday around 3:30 p.m. in a small bazaar on rue d’Aligre in the 12th arrondissement, before releasing one of them a little before 10 p.m.
The madman, known for psychological disorders, wanted to speak and be defended by the Minister of Justice and former lawyer Éric Dupond-Moretti. He claims he was poisoned by his doctor. This is how he explained his gesture to the BIS negotiators.
