He has suffered from it since his birth but rarely talks about it. Indeed, Camille Combal has always suffered from a genetic disease and is waiting for a donor for treatment. It was in 2015 that the host of Dance with the stars
spoke of his illness in the columns of Parisian.
He was already able to receive a cornea transplant a few years ago but it was not enough. “It’s a genetic disease, which I was born with, which can be quite common, which it was not at all possible to treat before. Today, they are getting there with corneal transplants.“he explained in particular.

Camille Combal already transplanted to one eye
Touched in both eyes, Camille Combal
must therefore undergo a second transplant. And for that, he must be very careful. Because depending on how he behaves, he could well lose his place on the list of organ seekers.
“There is a charter when you receive an organ from someone. For me, it’s the eyes, well, I must not go diving, I must not fight with anyone in the street, etc. I have the other eye to transplant”he revealed before confiding: “Both my eyes are affected so I have to do the second one.”.
He has still been waiting for this second transplant since 2015. Moreover, in September 2023, Marie Treille Stefani’s companion returned to the subject in an interview given to RTL.
The facilitator on the waiting list
“I had a cornea transplant and I’m waiting for another for my right eye. It’s something very important. (…) Once you put yourself on the transplant list, you have more just wait. As soon as there is a compatible donor, I will go to the operating room“told Camille Combal
to Eric Dussart.
In the meantime, he is concentrating on his role as host and will once again have to perform this Friday evening for the new Dancing with the Stars bonus. A bonus whose lights on set can sometimes bother him: “It bothers me in terms of photophobia. When I had my transplant, I was in the middle of the PMTB season. (…) I had to wear dark glasses for a year on TV because of photophobia.”.
