the host announces his forced withdrawal from the air

Since 2000, Laurent Luya has been a sports journalist in the sports department of France Télévisions. He presents the major sporting events broadcast on France 2 and France 3, such as the Olympic Games, the Roland-Garros tennis tournament (since 2003) and the Tour de France (since 2005).

And if he had not missed any edition since that date and has presented “Vélo Club” after each stage of the race for several years, this time he will be forced to give up his place. This Thursday, July 21, 2022, the host announced his forced withdrawal from the air: “Friends, for health reasons (no big deal), I won’t be able to finish the Tour. I am sorry. It’s never happened to me, it’s funny. Thank you for all the good times spent together. See you in Munich for the European Championships” he explained.

Very quickly, his subscribers reacted to this announcement: “Speedy recovery“, “Get well soon“, It will also be weird for us to no longer see you at the end of the Tour, of which you are an essential element every year”.

Following his departure from the France Télévisions coverage system for the Tour de France 2022, Laurent Luyat will be replaced at the head of the show Bike Club by journalist Céline Rousseaux.
