In 2013, Tito Prince tells in the first person how a young man finds himself in the Delafontaine hospital, in Saint-Denis, after being attacked by around fifteen people and having taken several stab wounds. And he addresses the nurse who treats him, which reminds us that all the suffering, all the violence, all the wounds of society end up in the hospital.
And while the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday, September 27, that 4,316 hospital beds were still cut in 2021, we cannot help but remember that the hospital is not only used to treat bodies – he also heals society as a whole. And, since it exists, we have not stopped diagnosing, in the hospital, everything from which society suffers. Already, in a legendary song from the end of the 19th century recorded by Marc Ogeret, we evoke syphilitic prostitutes, dying in sordid hospices.
