The CISSSAT’s decision to close the Senneterre emergency is causing victims. Nonsense. We are not in Montreal, where closing an emergency would have had the effect of extending ambulance transport by 15 minutes.
The distances here are important. Take Wednesday night. Snowstorm over Abitibi. The road connecting Senneterre and Val-d’Or, during these climatic episodes, is often poorly cleared of snow and very slippery. And in the middle of the night, in these conditions, visibility is reduced. Nothing to drive quickly, even for an ambulance, in an emergency.
