The 18-year-old high school student who threatened one of his teachers in Lormont (Gironde) on Monday February 20 will finally appear on April 6 before the Bordeaux court. The accused asked for a delay to prepare his defense, during his immediate appearance on Friday, February 24. He has been placed in the meantime under judicial supervision with a ban on going to Lormont, being in contact with the teacher and the witnesses in the case, and the obligation to report to the police station or the gendarmerie every 15 days, learned franceinfo from the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office.
The high school student is an apprentice educated at the professional high school Les Iris de Lormont. According to information from franceinfo, from a source close to the investigation, on Monday he threatened a teacher with whom he had just had a dispute and told the other students: “I will come one day with a balaclava, an Opinel and I will slice it like Samuel Paty”.
Early Thursday afternoon, the high school student was arrested at his home and placed in police custody, after a report from the National Education. The young man is unknown to justice and law enforcement. No weapon was found in his home during the search.
