Arriving Sunday evening, August 18 at Tel Aviv airport (Israel), Antony Blinken continues the meetings, first with the Israeli president Isaac Herzog. The American Secretary of State called for not “not to derail the negotiation process” : “This is a decisive moment, probably the best one. Perhaps the last opportunity to free the hostages, to obtain a ceasefire and to put everyone back on the right path towards peace and security.”
A call for calm as Hamas and Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing that occurred Sunday evening in Tel Aviv, while Israel intensifies its operations in the Gaza Strip, as well as on the Lebanese border.
