“Suspension of telecommunications services”

“The war cabinet unanimously approved a joint recommendation from the army and the Shin Bet (Israel’s internal security service) to comply with the US request and allow the entry of two trucks -fuel tanks per day for the needs of the UN”, Israeli officials said Friday.

In the evening, the Authority in charge of the Palestinian Rafah crossing, which connects Egypt to Gaza, announced that 17,000 liters of fuel had been delivered to the small territory to power the generators of the telecommunications company Paltel. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned on Wednesday against a “collapse” humanitarian operations in Gaza. According to her, fuel shortages have shut down a desalination plant, 60 wells and the two main wastewater treatment plants, increasing the risk of epidemics among the 2.4 million inhabitants, half of whom are children, two thirds of which are now displaced.
