The health protocol in force at the start of the school year, on September 1, will be at the “base”, the lowest level provided for by the ministry, several unions confided to franceinfo on Tuesday August 22. The Ministry of National Education does not confirm the information for the time being. Four levels of alert were announced in mid-July for this start of the school year, depending on the health situation.

At the first level of alert, all courses, whatever the level, take place face-to-face. There are no restrictions in physical and sporting activities, nor any limitation on student mixing, especially in the canteen. The rules of contact-tracing, wearing a mask and social distancing are the same as those applied to the general population. Hand washing, frequent ventilation of the premises and cleaning and disinfection of the materials most affected by students and staff are not compulsory, but strongly recommended.
In addition, staff who so wish will be able to benefit from an initial endowment of 50 surgical masks, given at the start of the school year. 61.5 million masks have already been sent to academies. Staff will also be able to continue to receive self-tests from pharmacies, at least until All Saints’ Day, and at the rate of 10 self-tests per month.
