Seven weeks before the European elections, a large number of candidates went overseas: Marine Le Pen was in Mayotte and Raphaël Glucksmann in Reunion.
A fanfare welcome. In Mayotte, the president of the National Rally received 59% of the votes during the last presidential election. Visiting the island on Saturday April 20, she mainly talks about the migration crisis affecting Mayotte. Facing strong abstention
Two weeks earlier, Jean-Luc Mélenchon had also made the trip. For La France insoumise, the crisis in Reunion comes from the French state. In addition to Marine Tondelier, the National Secretary of EELV, and François Asselineau, four political figures campaigned in Reunion. The abstention rate reached 69% in the European elections in 2019.
