The headquarters of the Grand Est region, in Metz, in Moselle, was searched Thursday June 6 as part of an investigation into “favoritism and illegal taking of interests” targeting Jean Rottner, the former president of the regional council, according to information from France Bleu Lorraine Nord.
In January 2023, a complaint against X was filed with the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office (PNF) by the anti-corruption association AC! For “favoritism and illegal taking of interests” after the resignation of Jean Rottner. The PNF has since relinquished this matter in favor of the Nancy public prosecutor’s office. The association relied on information from Mediapart which pointed to the remuneration of the former regional president coming from a consulting activity. Mediapart claimed that Jean Rottner carried out these advisory missions while he was still president of the Grand Est region.
Contacted by France Bleu Lorraine Nord, the Nancy public prosecutor, François Capin-Dulhoste, confirms that “the search took place in the premises of the regional council in Metz”as part of a preliminary investigation “conducted under the authority of the JIRS prosecutor’s office in Nancy” (specialized interregional jurisdiction), following a “AC association report”.
