Online reservations to visit Italian monuments are often impossible. Some agencies reserve slots a month in advance.

In Rome (Italy), the Colosseum, one of the most visited monuments in the world, attracts several million tourists per year. Every day, nearly 25,000 visitors flock there. But obtaining an entry ticket has been a feat for several months. The only solution is to queue for several hours, with no guarantee of being able to enter. On the official Colosseum website, reserving a place costs 18 euros. However, it is full for the month and the remaining slots evaporate in seconds.

Bots buy tickets in bulk

To access it, it is possible to purchase places from digital tourism operators, who offer additional services. But prices fluctuate and can be five times more expensive than the initial rate. Bots, computer programs, buy tickets en masse as soon as the ticket office opens to the public. They then resell them piecemeal, at exorbitant prices.
