The head of civil security, Alain Thirion, was suspended on Monday “as a precaution” of his duties, learned AFP from the Ministry of the Interior, Wednesday, July 5. “The Minister has been informed of facts likely to implicate the current DGSCGC (Director General of Civil Security)”commented the ministry. “An inspection mission has been commissioned and will report its conclusions within a month”added Place Beauvau.
According to the daily Corse-Morning and a source close to the case at AFP, the senior official would be targeted by suspicion of sexual assault.
Before taking the direction of civil security, Alain Thirion had been prefect of Haute-Corse from 2015 to 2017. He had been implicated at the end of 2019 by the sub-prefect of Calvi, Anne Ballereau, who had filed a complaint for moral harassment and sexual harassment.
