The Emperor Hadrian is on his way to the arenas of Nîmes. The historical show Hadrian The Pictish War will be held May 6, 7 and 8 next. On the menu, gladiatorial combat, horse racing, stunts, and of course History, right in the heart of the very real setting of the Nîmes arenas.
For the show they will be 520 re-enactors from all over Europe. This Saturday, some 70 Romans and Pictish barbarians began rehearsals at Comps.
These festivities will tell the story of Emperor Hadrian against the British barbarians: the Picts. This Roman leader is actually came to Nîmes in the year 122 AD. There are exactly 1,900. So it was to celebrate this anniversary that Eric Teyssier and Yann Guerrero imagined this representation.
These festivities are an opportunity to dive into a meticulous reconstruction of history while having fun.
