The guru of “raw food” Thierry Casasnovas has been indicted, in particular for “breach of trust”, “abuse of weakness” and “illegal practice of medicine and pharmacy”, announced in a press release the public prosecutor from Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), Friday 10 March. He was released but placed under judicial control, with “the prohibition to participate in or organize courses and training related to naturopathy, hygiene, health or well-being”. Thierry Casasnovas arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday, as part of an investigation opened in 2021.

In videos posted on YouTube, with more than 80 million views, he praises the practice of fasting, as well as “raw food”, a dietary practice that consists of eating exclusively raw foods. He claims that these practices can cure cancers and diabetes. He also declared that drugs and vaccination were harmful to health, affirms, in its 2021 activity report, the Interministerial Mission for Vigilance and the Fight against Sectarian Abuses (Miviludes), to which Thierry Casasnovas made the subject of dozens of reports.
During the summer of 2020, AFP recalls, the prosecution had opened a judicial investigation against him for “illegal exercise of the profession of doctor”, “abuse of weakness” and “misleading commercial practices”. He added, in the fall of 2021, the count of “economic and financial offences”.
