Emergency services were called around 9:30 p.m. Saturday evening to go to this municipality of the Capitale-Nationale because of a man who was in distress on the river.
According to information provided by the Sûreté du Québec, the man in his fifties would have broken down in a personal watercraft on the river. He would then have moved away from the machine to seek help.
“When he tried to recover it by swimming, he would have had great difficulty. The help of the Coast Guard and firefighters was requested, and the man was finally located unresponsive around 10:40 p.m. by the Coast Guard, ”said Sergeant Camille Savoie, who is spokesperson for the corps, on Sunday morning. provincial policeman.
Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out until the man was transported to the hospital center, where he was declared dead.
