The French are paying more and more attention to the environmental impact of their purchases. For many cosmetic brands, this is a new market. It even represents 15% growth each year.
Fresh plants for making cosmetics? Natural care is the big trend of the moment in specialized stores. “I’ve experienced some skin problems so it’s better for me to look for ‘safe’ products that are now called natural”, testifies a customer. Today, all cosmetic brands are going natural. Half of the Nocibé Opéra store’s references are “green” and according to Sarah Menez, the director, it shouldn’t stop there. “Within two to three years, this would be 80% of references”she says.
“Nature is much more powerful than chemistry”
In the Serraval area (Haute-Savoie) in the heart of the Alps, the lemon balm harvest was done in spring. This plant is anti-inflammatory and anti-aging. It will be used in the composition of creams and other lotions. “Nature is much more powerful than chemistry”says Aurore Metral, manager of the area. “We want to be inspired by what is true, by what comes from our land”, she adds. Natural cosmetics is growing 15% each year, it is impossible for brands to miss it.
